About Us

Lainesmead is a Community school in Swindon Local Authority.  Children come to Lainesmead from 4 – 11 years of age. The school is based in well-maintained buildings set in wide sweeping and beautiful open grounds that are fully utilised for sport, curriculum studies and after school by our gardening club.

We are a very open community, parents are invited into school every morning to share early tasks with their child, giving an immediate insight into what they are learning in school. Parents can easily access staff and discuss pupil progress or talk through any concerns as they arise.

We aim to encourage a calm, purposeful and happy atmosphere within the school, to promote high standards of achievement and behaviour. Our school team is dedicated and committed to providing children with the very best education where learning is fun. There are also lots of exciting opportunities after school. We hope parents and children will come along to all our events and take part in the full life of our school.

Ofsted recognised in their inspection of the school in February 2010 that:

“The good quality of provision in the Early Years Foundation Stage enables pupils to get off to a flying start and make good progress in their learning and personal development. Caring staff, good quality teaching and assessment, and an enjoyable curriculum provide children with challenging activities and a supportive atmosphere in which they thrive. Inspiring and motivational lessons, which make learning fun, are continued into the main school, where the new curriculum, with an international focus and enjoyable activities, is helping to raise attainment.”

Choosing your child’s school is a very important decision, I hope this web site will provide you with some of the relevant details you need to make an informed choice.

You are very welcome to come and visit the school and see for yourself and we will be only to happy to answer any queries  you may have.

Best wishes
